The Darker Side of a Man Part 1

It was a chilly winters night as John Peterson stepped out onto the balcony of his apartment on the fifth floor of the building. He was dressed in dark black jacket that came down to about his knees, covered in pockets, as well as black leather pants that were well worn in with his customary combat boots and a beanie to cover his ears and the top of his head. He was a normal looking man who was actually very muscular and toned. His eyes a light frail blue that looked pure and innocent like the eyes of a child. He also had mixed colored hair of blond with a little light brown in it. The only reason he would be out in the cold on a day like this would be per his usual routine.
He reached into one of his many pockets and pulled out a box of cigarettes. He made sure they were packed down well before he took one out placing it in his mouth as he closed the box and put it back in the pocket where it belonged. As he did so, he brought up his left hand and took at a small engraved zippo lighter and flipped it open pushing the wheel down. the spark flew and gas caught the flame igniting the string as he put his cigarette to it. He inhaled letting it light as he dropped his left hand and flipped the lighter shut putting it away.
The wind began to blow harshly again. It was going to be a dark dreadful night, much darker for some than others. As he looked out At the city he saw a few lights here and there, but it was 2 A.M. and everything was finally dying down. It was almost time to go but before that John wanted to reflect for a little bit.
